Nelda's family made a video account of her journey, and it will soon be uploaded to her website that is still under construction. I watched the video this evening, and it reminded me why the Lord placed me on this journey. There are scenes from Nelda's childhood, scenes with her now deceased father, scenes with her now deceased brother, scenes from when her body was whole and healthy, scenes from her grueling rehabilitation after her second brain surgery, scenes displaying her as healthy and whole again...only to face another decline which she is now living day by day. "God is Good and we can't lose hope", I know Nelda will say when I talk to her about the video, but it tore at my soul to watch it, and I feel so much anger for her pain. Nelda is so good, Nelda is so loving, Nelda is so giving, yet there is no reprieve for her suffering. I continue to try to find "the lesson", but I certainly am battling the anger. If you are reading this, do something to help bring awareness to the plight of Vonn-Hippel Lindau victims, and if together we all can tell her story, then a cure can be found and Nelda's suffering will not be in vain. A special heartfelt message to Eddie and Elva her daily, steadfast angels...words can't contain the love and admiration I have in my heart for you both. You have stood by Nelda on this journey from day one. You are strong souls given the task of standing by a saint, and you serving her well. God Bless You Both! The only other person I place with you in my heart is my dear Father, Calvin Luther Blacklock. For ten years, he has watched the slow decline of my mother as alzhiemer's disease has mercilessly taken her away from us. The rest of us have a difficult time seeing Mom this far declined, but not Dad. He stays by her side, and he says he loves her more every day. I called the other day, and I asked, "What's going on?" Dad replied, "Your Mother and I were dancing....with our hands." I know that Mom and Nelda both love God and urge us "To Dance", but as we dance lets remember that they are part of our music, and we need to fight for awareness, research, and cures for these diseases that bring pain to so many.
